Compact Laminate
Compact laminate is a high pressure structural laminate, built up from multiple layers of Kraft paper to produce a laminate 13mm in thickness (6mm for wall linings). It is particularly suited for use in high humidity, high abuse areas. With a density of 14Kg/m2 (for 10mm thickness), compact is impressively strong, damage resistant and has remarkable structural stability. It requires no substrate support in thickness over 6mm. It has a decorative face on both sides and is ideal for interior use in toilets and shower cubicles, privacy screens, wall linings and laboratory bench tops.

Low Pressure LAMINATE (LPL) & HIGH Pressure Laminate (HPL)
LOW PRESSURE LAMINATE
At KerMac we offer Laminex Melteca which is a low pressure laminate. It is a tough melamine surface laminated to medium density fibreboard (MDF) to provide a double faced, pre‑finished decorative panel. Sheets of melamine impregnated overlay are bonded to both sides of the MDF substrate under heat and pressure. The resin on the top surface of the overlay cures, forming a tough, stain resistant finish. This is a popular board product due to its economical cost.
Low Pressure Laminate available: Melteca LPL
HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE
For High Pressure Laminates we offer Laminex Structural Board HPL, Laminex HPL and Formica HPL. Laminex HPL and Formica HPL consist of several base layers of phenolic resin-impregnated kraft paper. A layer of melamine-impregnated paper in a solid colour or printed design is applied to the decorative side of the base. Printed designs are covered with a transparent overlay containing melamine. The layers are bonded under heat and pressure. The High Pressure Laminate is bonded to a wooden substrate such as Medium density fibreboard or Marine grade ply wood for wet areas.
Both HPL and LPL are hardwearing, stain & heat resistance products however HPL is more durable and suited to higher abuse areas especially when bonded to marine ply core allowing its use in wet areas. HPL is available in a wide range of colours and decors across the Laminex and Formica brands
